Music majors showcase talents

Music majors performed on the Steele Hall lawn this morning despite the hot weather.

“We just want to give students and the staff a sample of the different ensembles we have,” said Arlen Chongson, assistant professor of music and area coordinator.

The LOC Percussion Ensemble opened the showcase with a series of drum beats.

Music majors performed solos, including Ashley Loyd singing “The Holy City,” Stephen Baines singing “She Never Told Her Love,” Tirzah Williams singing “The Shadow of Your Smile,” A’Keem Clinton singing “Lasciatemi morire,” and Sylvia Askew-Newhouse singing “Il bio bel foco.”

The LOC Concert choir, under the direction of Professor Gavin Wigginson, performed two selections, “Amazing Grace” and “Precious Lord.”

The LOC Precussion Ensemble included Torey Wooten, Maricus Witherspoon, and Quintreviouis Worles.
