Lady Magicians’ losing streak continues

After a successful debut in the October Alumni Game in Bruce Hall Gymnasium, some wondered “What happened to the Lady Magicians?” They haven’t won a game since.

After being 0-8 in preseason games, they kicked off conference play this past weekend in Georgia.

The ladies first faced Albany State University at their home court. It was both teams SIAC season opener. Albany State began the game with a 17-10 lead in the first quarter and continued the game in dominating fashion. The Lady Magicians were down 35-24 at the half. The second half was no better, as Albany State jumped to a 51-34 lead, and eventually the Lady Magicians fell. Courtney Banks led our ladies with 10 points and 7 rebounds.

The ladies then faced Fort Valley State University Lady Wildcats. The Lady Magicians fell 77-54. Senior forward Shekiyah Tarpons led both teams with 23 points and 12 rebounds. In the first quarter, the Lady Magicians and the Lady Wildcats were neck and neck, Fort Valley was up 29-27 at the half. By the fourth quarter, Fort Valley’s largest lead of 25 points came and so did the win. Corlishia “Shakey” Howard led LOC with 16 points and Champale Grays added 11 rebounds.

The Lady Magician’s next game is Tues., Dec. 6 vs. Mississippi College.
