Can the Magicians repeat the success of 2016?

After going all the way to the championship game last season, the Magicians were held to extremely high expectations by the college and by the fans. So for this season, they have fallen short. So far, they are 0-7, 1-1 in conference play.

They got their first win of the season with a 78-71 win over Albany State University. In the first half, the score was tied four times, and there were even five lead changes. Junior guard, Darien “D- Buckets” Terell scored a buzzer beater outback after a missed 3- pointer by sophomore Martez Briggs, and LOC was up 5, 38-33 at intermission.

In the second half, LOC went on a 17-6 run to take a 59-49 lead that they held until ASU went on a 15-4 run to tie the game at 70 with 2:35 left to play. LeMoyne eventually got the win, led by Daaron Maston with a game high 29 points.

FVSU’ s men basketball team beat our Magicians 91-84. Junior guard Jamaal Garror led the Wildcats with 15 points and 6 rebounds. LOC was led by Reshun “Popeye” Ellis, 28 points and 10 rebounds. The Magicians scored 20 points off of turnovers and only 3 points from the bench players. They grabbed 40 rebounds as a team, but still eventually fell to the Wildcats.
Their next matchup is Thurs., Dec. 8 vs. Harding in Arkansas.
